About

Collada 3d Viewer is an application for viewing 3d models stored in Collada 3d format. It adds Collada support for the device allowing users to open 3d models from web, email attachments or from the file system. Once opened, the 3d models can be easily rotated, panned and zoomed. The viewer features also include changing between cameras in the 3d model and switching to a fast rendering mode that allows smooth handling of very large or complex 3d models.

Collada 3d Viewer provides real-time 3d model visualization and is suitable for anyone wishing to view 3d models using their handheld device. Collada 3d Viewer is powered by Capsule 3d Engine from SVSi.

User guide

This section explains how to enable and use the features of this application. Some of the features are activated simply by touching the screen and others from the application menu. For some features, there's a keyboard shortcut.

Open

Used for selecting a Collada file to be openened from the device filesystem. Note that clicking a Collada file with some other application will open this application automatically. Activate from the open icon or from the application menu.

Rotate, Pan, Zoom

Once opened, 3d models can be rotated, panned and zoomed with touch gestures. Rotation is the default action. Panning can be activated with a douple click ontop of the object or pressing x from the keyboard. Zooming can be activated from the right side of the screen or pressing y from the keyboard. Another type of rotation can be be activated from the left side of the screen.

Fullsreen

Used for activating the full screen mode. Note that menus do not work from this mode. Also note that rendering performance is best in fullscreen mode. Activated from the fullscreen icon or from the application menu.

Switch camera

Used for changing between cameras in the 3d model. This feature is particulary usefull if the 3d model is equipped with pre-defined camera angles designed to demonstrate some aspect of the model. Usefull also to go back to the default camera angle. Activated from the camera icon or from the application menu.

Spin scene

Activates an animation spinning the model around. Activated and deactivated from the application menu.

Fast rendering

Activates a fast rendering mode where even large or complex 3d models are rendered smoothly. In this mode, the 3d model is not fully rendered while it's moving. When stopped, the model will be fully rendered after a small delay. Activated and deactivated from the application menu.
